At three months I started to loose my milk supply… this is what I did to increase it. It really worked and I hope it will help you!
My baby was born very tiny so we started off syringe feeding because she would fall asleep breast feeding. I returned to work part time and that is when we started bottle feeding. I pump using the Medela Double Pump every three hours since she was born. At three months I wasn’t producing enough to keep up with how much she wanted to eat. This is what I did to increase my milk supply.
I took Fenugreek Seed & Blessed Thistle. I had a glass of water every time I took the herbs. 2 capsules 3 times a day.
I ordered Let There Be Milk from Birth and Song. After 48 hours I noticed a huge improvement with the amount of milk I was able to produce.
I used the Medela Supplemental Nursing System to get my baby to latch. I would bottle feed her when she was hungry then once she was calm I would latch her using this system. The more I nurse the more milk I can produce. Personally my baby only breast feeds at night so I started picking her up from her naps during the day while she was still sleepy and I found it was easier to get her to latch.
I ate oatmeal every morning! I made an Oat Smoothie I really enjoyed:
1/2 cup Oats
1 teaspoon Almond Butter
1 cup Almond Milk
1 frozen Banana
1 teaspoon of Cacao
I pumped every three hours for 10-15 minutes during the day. I tried power pumping it is when you pump for ten minutes then stop for ten minutes for an hour. It can be exhausting but I found it really helped increase my milk supply!
Wow, being a mom sure is hard some days! I really have gained so much respect for moms everywhere. I know I was really upset when I lost my milk supply. I was searching every blog , website and asking my friends for ways to increase my milk supply. This is what worked for me… and I sure hope it can help you too!
